Your Mission as a Junior HSE Specialist
As a Junior HSE Specialist, your primary mission is to be a proactive safety ambassador in the field. You will dedicate over 70% of your work time outside the office, actively engaging with employees and contractors in safety conversations, identifying at-risk behaviors, and overseeing high-risk job safety measures. Your role is crucial in guiding, supporting, and advising on all Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) matters, ensuring a safe and compliant workplace.
You will be handling these duties and responsibilities as a Junior HSE Specialist
- Allocate 70%+ of your work time to the yard and fields, engaging with employees and contractors on safety protocols.
- Identify at-risk behaviors and unsafe conditions, taking immediate corrective actions.
- Oversee HSE aspects of high-risk jobs, ensuring safety protocols are rigorously followed.
- Play a key role in hazard identification and risk mitigation during work operations.
- Prepare and review HSE documentation such as certificates, checklists, MSDS, and Road Assessments.
- Ensure the effective implementation of the emergency response plan, including equipment maintenance and drill execution.
- Lead and participate in regular HSE meetings with the operations team on daily, weekly, and monthly bases.
- Follow up and close out HSE issues and actions from company and client HSE meetings, inspections, and audits.
- Monitor and report incidents and near-misses in compliance with company procedures.
- Conduct HSE training for all employees according to the Company Training Matrix.
- Promote HSE awareness among all staff members.
- Ensure all employees have the correct PPE and are using it properly.
- Encourage and support employees and contractors to halt work when safety is compromised.
Qualifications and Skills that will allow you to thrive as a Junior HSE Specialist
- A degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse teams.
- Knowledge of HSE regulations and best practices, particularly in the oil and gas industry.
- Ability to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement effective controls.
- Familiarity with emergency response procedures and safety training programs.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving with a keen eye for detail.
- Willingness to work primarily in the field, demonstrating a hands-on approach to safety management.
- Fresh graduates with relevant internships or practical experience are encouraged to apply.
